Monteverde Birdwatching Tour.

Explore Monteverde’s cloud forest on a relaxed, small-group walk led by an experienced local naturalist guide, with a focus on birds, wildlife, plants, and the living connections that shape the forest.
An early start in Monteverde has its rewards. We’ll begin in the morning and, if we encounter an interesting bird sighting on the way to the park, we may stop when it is safe to do so.

On the trails, we’ll walk slowly, pausing to listen and observe. Bird activity will help shape our route: some sightings will let us take our time, while others may require walking a little faster or farther to catch a glimpse.

The walk lasts approximately 3½ hours, and a moderate level of fitness is recommended. We’ll take water breaks, with restrooms available approximately halfway through the route. If the birdwatching is particularly good and everyone’s schedule allows, we may extend the walk by up to half an hour.

Monteverde is home to excellent guides and a strong birdwatching tradition. Choosing who to explore with is personal, and we value the trust you place in us to be part of your trip.     Please note

      • Wear closed-toe walking shoes with good grip.

      • Bring drinking water, comfortable clothing, and a light rain jacket.

      • The walk is generally easy and follows a relaxed pace, with frequent stops to observe birds and rest.

      • The tour lasts approximately 3½ hours. At times, we may walk a little faster to reach a bird sighting, always considering the group’s comfort.

      • We generally avoid wet or slippery trails. If there is a particular bird sighting along one, your guide will assess the conditions and the group’s comfort before deciding whether to take that trail.

      • You are welcome to bring your own binoculars and camera.

      • If you have mobility difficulties or need additional support, please contact us before booking. We will do our best to adapt the route, pace, and rest stops to your needs so you can enjoy the experience comfortably and safely.

      • Wildlife sightings depend on natural conditions. We cannot guarantee specific species.

      • Follow your guide’s instructions and keep your voice low.

      • Respect wildlife. Do not feed or touch animals.

      What to bring

        • Drinking water, snacks, and personal essentials.

        • Your own camera and binoculars, if you wish.

        • A cap or hat for sun protection.

        • A valid ID or a photo of your passport or driver’s license for completing the waiver.

        • Insect repellent in a pump spray, not an aerosol. Ask your guide where to apply it. To protect the environment, some parks allow application only in designated areas. not in parking areas, reception areas, or the forest.
